..hit the ground ...and went nowhere! The beginning of our trip, leaving Boston at rush hour in holiday traffic, was a bit challenging. Dilana's GPS was incredible - she was the voice telling me where to go. It rerouted us through the small back streets of Boston and kept us off the major expressways where traffic was a nightmare. And since Dilana did the voice, I didn't have to hear "recalculating" once!
We made it to our soundcheck with ten minutes to spare, despite Dilana losing, then finding, then losing, then finding her credit card and license. Soundcheck was a pleasure. Dave the sound guy made it quick and easy for Dilana and Michael. The small auditorium was perfect for an acoustic gig. This was Dilana's first time ever playing in a high school. As usual, her voice was impeccable, but the coolest thing about the show was her interaction with her young audience. After 4 songs she had them laughing - she asked one young couple where the girl was sitting on the guy's lap, "How long have you been going together? 4 Songs?" the kids howled and she had them. Then she invited 3 girls to come up on stage and sing. One girl sang Taylor Swift's Love Story and Dilana asked them the name of that song - they laughed thinking she was joking - little did they know she wasn't! Then she invited up another girl with awesome boots to come up and play the tambourine for Holiday. They all connected and both the kids and Dilana had fun.
Day one was a success all the way around, no getting lost, lost cards not lost, great show, good food and now....good sleep! See you again tomorrow...from where I sit, behind the wheel. Night all! Zzzz....
Oh wait...did I leave out the part where we were loading the rental car in the middle of the traffic exit lane, holding up any exiting, by bus or car, from the Avis parking lot? Man after man would come over to us and tell us we had to move, and Dilana, in her ever so polite way, would assure them we were almost done and would be out of the way soon.....haha....still smiling as I drift off.....
Where on Arcadia University's campus are you singing/performing? Can't wait to see the show. I haven't seen you since the Rockstar Supernova show in Atlantic City. Arcadia U has nothing I can see about your show.
